What about an anime recommendation thread, eh? We'll never not have plenty of these...
Let's see... I recommend everybody watch:
- Saiunkoku Monogatari: it's based on a Japanese light novel series by the same title in the shoujo genre. Takes place in a fictional ancient country like China. Lots of bishies. MUCHO. Good ones, too! Great story and characters. Intricate plot to boot. (2 seasons, 39 eps each)
- Arakawa Under the Bridge: based on a gag manga by the same name, all about a young Japanese noble who decides to live under a bridge because a cute young woman who saves his life asks him to be her lover. Very hilarious, unusual characters that clash with this guy's very common sense wit. People wear masks and have mysterious pasts. SISTER is in this, whom Troy B. must voice in English!! (1 season, 13 eps, so far)
- Blood+: don't know if you peeps have seen this already, but it's win! Vampires take on a whole new meaning in this anime and it has such a great romance story in it, despite trying not to, too much. Solomon is blond bishie yumminess. (4 seasons, 50 eps total)
- Skip Beat!: is originally a manga about a girl who is obsessed with a young pop singer she happens to live with, but he ends up rejecting her in a cruel way. She vows revenge on him by threatening to become a bigger pop idol than he is, and sets out to do so. She falls for this jerk's professional rival, who is employed at the same talent agency she is. Awesome show! Really different. (1 season, 25 episodes)
Well, that's it for me, for now. So many more where these came from...

I would have to suggest, for now at least:
Romeo X Juliet: It's based off of Shakespears Romeo and Juliet if you couldn't tell. It's a heartbreaking story and that leaves you crying in the end. Even if you're not a Shakespear person.
Blood Plus: Yeah double recommendation. I'm obsessed with the series. The anime is very well done and has many twists and turns that keep it interesting.

Ok, so I'm definitely starting Blood Plus. I think I can instant watch it on Netflix too!! WOOOO! I didn't finish R&J >< I have to rewatch it someday. Nana was a decent anime. Lots of drama, lots of love, some girl power! I like the sweet little Yuri undertones of it as well, but don't be scared off! They're just undertones afterall. Cute story, great music. Ichigo Mashimaro is SOOOOOOO cute. It's about some little girls and an older girl who they look up to. Totally slice of life, totally hilarious in a very scratch your head sorta way. I liked it a lot. Peach Girl is another school/slice of life drama with a pretty good story! Lots of twists and turns. I'm sure there's more...... but my brain is burned out atm.

I agree with Skip Beat!! It's amazing and slightly romantic. <3
I'm gonna suggest a few. =]
-07-Ghost: Though his classmates tease him unmercifully about being an orphan and a slave, Teito Klein is the elite Barsburg Academy's star pupil. His mastery of the magical art of Zaiphon is unmatched, and, along with his best friend Mikage, he passes the final exam with flying colors. Unfortunately, after a chance encounter with the sinister Ayanami, his long repressed memories start to return, and he realizes that his life has been a lie. He is actually heir to the throne of the now subjugated Ragg Kingdom! He flees and ends up taking refuge in a church, neutral territory known as “The Zone of God.” Although he gains a trio of new allies within those sacred walls, Barsburg will stop at nothing to get him back—even if that means making fell bargains with ancient demonic powers!
This is an excellent, excellent series. It's soo hilarious, has action and it's chalked full of hot guys. <3 -- The one thing I will say, is that it is only in Japanese (with English Subtitles) - but all the same, it's amazing.
- Pandora Hearts: Oz Bezarius, heir to one of the duke houses, has just turned fifteen. His life is rich and carefree, darkened only by the constant absence of his father. At his coming-of-age ceremony, however, everything changes. For no reason that he can discern, he's cast into the prison known as the "Abyss", only to be saved by a "chain" known as Alice, the bloodstained black rabbit. It is unknown why was he cast into Abyss, how does Alice factor into it all, and what does the organization known as "Pandora" want with him.
That summary doesn't sound as good as I would've hoped, but ehh, it's basically what it's about. =] It's very, very good and has lots of humor and amazing hot guys and some sexy girls. =] -- This also, is in Japanese with English Subtitles.
I'll have more I'm sure, but I always talk about those two. :3

"Hot bishies" is the magic phrase, and I'm there! ;D
I'll rec some mo'...
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - Yes, this IS a Mobile Suit Gundam anime, the most recent one that aired on TV (not the OVA that Troy did, recently), and it is AWESOME. I love this series, even though it's mecha. It is very female-friendly with a load of hot men-folk, and nekkid ones in season 2! Need I say more? Lol, just kidding. The plot is pretty intricate and the air battles are the best you'll ever see. The animation is also very beautiful...
Death Note - Don't know if you folks have seen this one, already, but I highly recommend it, anyway. It's no shoujo anime, but it was written by a female. It's about a high school kid obtaining the power to kill people secretly with a notebook, so he goes on a murderous rampage, battling it out mentally with his nemesis who is desperately trying to capture him. Psychological thriller, much?!
Devil May Cry - You've heard me, no doubt, go on and on about my main squeeze, Dante from the Devil May Cry video games, ne? Well, they made him into an anime character, yes they did! So, if you've yet to enlighten yourself with this hotter-than-Han-Solo demon hunter, now's your chance to just watch him in his daily life as a devil-killer-for-hire.
Granted, this version of Dante isn't too identical to his game versions (and, please ignore Devil May Cry 2, for that matter). Game-version Dante kicks this anime version's arse all over the place, but the VA is the same guy (sweet, sweet Reuben Langdon). The little blonde girl who hangs out with Dante in the anime certainly is a change of pace for the usually 'no-children present' unspoken rule in the games. She's a cutey-pie and Dante's like her uncle or big bro, which we don't get to see elsewhere (unless you count Nero from DMC 4, but he's no little kid)...

Skip Beat! was made into an anime? I can't believe I didn't know that. Does it follow the manga closely, or does it stray from the original storyline?
Hmmm... Right now I can only think of one anime that I really love that I think more people should watch.
Last Exile- It's a steampunk anime with computerized airships, beautiful music and art and an interesting storyline. It starts off a bit slow but it definitely gets better as it goes on. It's only 26 episodes long so it's a bit short, but good none the less.

XD The other is The Galaxy Railways - I'm a huge Matsumoto fan, and this is one of his newer ones that I really enjoy. It's pretty straightforward Matsumoto - space navy, intergalactic railway, hero and anti-hero...

THIS is one of the ones I was going to recommend! XD Oh! Nice to meet another LE fan. :3 Another anime I'd recommend is: .hack//SIGN- The .hack// series goes from anime/manga to novels and games but I personally started the franchise with .hack//SIGN. It has a bit of a complicated storyline but that's part of what makes it so good! If you don't know the basics of the series it all bases around online game called "The World" and the players within it. SIGN in particular revolves around a boy who plays the game and one day wakes up to find himself inside of it unable to log out. It might sound cheesy but it can get really emotional at times.

Magic Knight Rayearth is really good. It follows these three girls who fall into another world called Cephiro. They are called to the world because they are the Legendary Magic Knights and must save Cephiro. Cliche as it may sound, it's really good and it's written by Clamp. So that alone should be reason to watch it.
Kuroshitsuji aka Black Butler. I love this series. It's really good. It follows Sebastian Michaelis, a demonic butler who is bound by a supernatural contract to serve Ciel Phantomhive, the twelve-year-old head of the Phantomhive noble family, and in return Sebastian will obtain Ciel's soul when Ciel has finished getting his revenge and allows Sebastian to kill him.
Chobits The series tells the story of Hideki Motosuwa, who finds an abandoned persocom, or personal computer with human form, that he names "Chi" after the only word it initially can speak. As the series progresses, they explore the mysteries of Chi's origin together and questions about the relationship between human beings and persocoms. It's another work from Clamp.
Devil May Cry Cause it's awesome. And Kyashi beat me to it.

High School of the Dead - It' basically a zombie apocalypse that takes place at a high school! Need I say more! HunterXHunter(OVA) - It's an older anime, but its really good. It was created by the same guy who created Yu Yu Hakusho. "Gon Freecs, a young boy that lives on a small island learns that his father who he doesn't remember is an extremely famous man and has become somewhat of an amazing hunter. Gon takes the hunter exam to seek out his amazing father, but on the way while teaming up with 3 other candidates, Kurapica, Leorio, and Killua, he learns that there is more to becoming a hunter and the challenges that he must face will be beyond his imaginations. Twelve-year-old Gon Freecss one day discovers that the father he had always been told was dead was alive and well. His Father, Ging, is a Hunter--a member of society's elite with a license to go anywhere or do almost anything. Gon, determined to follow in his father's footsteps, decides to take the Hunter Examination and eventually find his father to prove himself as a Hunter in his own right. But on the way, he learns that there is more to becoming a Hunter than previously thought, and the challenges that he must face are considered the toughest in the world." There are two sequels also Greed Island(OVA2) then GI Final(OVA 3).

Kiniro no Corda or La Corda d'Oro This is a great anime if you like solo instrumental performances. There's violin, viola, cello, trumpet, flute, clarinet (maybe... i dont remember) piano... The music is really great and it has my beloved Daisuke Kishio in it as a lead character. *stares off in the distance for a moment, drooling...* It's quite romantic and really should be classified as a reverse harem.
One of my faves for sure.

Okay, here's a good one for US to watch, in particular...
Soul Eater: I've just been getting into this show and it is SO awesome! It's so much funnier than I thought it would be, and it's not supposed to be a comedy. Every character is interesting and unique.
Good examples are: Shinigami-sama (or Death Himself) because he's just so sweet and kind. Death the Kid because he's anal and cares only about "symmetry," and is easily defeated by "asymmetry" (lol). Maka is the most normal, but she's very cute and a tough chick-fighter. Soul likes to be cool, and is pretty much, for a teenager, but I totally want him to hook-up with Maka.
Spirit is one of my faves. Vic does his voice, and he's just a ladie's man who is obsessed with being loved by his estranged daughter, Maka. Stein is a man after my own heart. My new love... He's a totally quirky, nearly frighteningly mad scientist with a screw in his head, but he's adorable and very helpful to the children. Black Star is friggin' hilarious with his HUGE ego, but it works somehow. He's says hilarious things that I need to see, over and over and over again...
Then, there's Excalibur... What can I say about him...? He has bunny feet... That is all.
> > >
Just kidding! Excalibur is pure win and very well comically written. He's crazy in ways that we mere humans cannot comprehend, and that makes him awesome... ;D

I just started watching Ristorante Paradiso! I'm only on ep 3, but it's really cute!
Ristorante Paradiso follows the protagonist, Nicoletta, as she comes to Rome from the Italian countryside and becomes an apprentice in Casetta dell'Orso, a restaurant owned by her mother Olga's new husband, Lorenzo, and meets its colorful staff.
It's a romantic Josei type anime. I haven't read any of the manga yet though.
