i'm partial to an 80s group called "the call" and leonard cohen.c
i also lately listen to a lot of steampunk music, and frequently book those bands {abney park, vernian process, ghosts project, clockwork dolls}, as well as goth bands {voltaire, the last dance, cruxshadows} for conventions or music festivals!

I grew up a huge New Order fan, still love them. I always like to joke and say I majored in "U2" when I was in junior college. I still love them, too, but not their new stuff. The Smiths and Morrissey cannot be equaled, to this day, still...
Coldplay, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Muse, Arcade Fire, and a buttload of J-Pop stuffs. These are a few of my favorite things...

Hmmm.... I LOVE my techno. Trance, rave, house, happy hardcore, psy, goa, you name it! I love it. I used to be a hardcore bar dancer before I moved out here to the place that rolls up the carpet just after 6pm. :/ Since I've moved away from the dance scene due to the fact that I can't dance anywhere in this stupid town... I take solace in downtempo and lounge music. I really like SOMAFM - their Groove Salad station is awesome. I love Portishead and Massive attack... NIN and Tool, Tori Amos, Sarah Mclachlan... and smatterings of stuff here and there. Pretty eclectic really. I dislike rap (which my husband LOOOOOOVES...... I thought he'd grow out of it.. but no.) I really dislike country music except like old standards. Dolly, Willie, Johnny Cash.. etc. My husband does the website and such and is best friends with this band's bassist. (Upright bass that is XD) They're like... sort of a jug band is really the closest thing I can identify them as - but they prefer not to categorize themselves. You guys should check em out! I may hate country music, but I love these guys! They're hella talented and fun as hell! www.downtowncountyband.com/

I love music so much,it's hard to choose.I was exposed to just about everything with 4 sisters and 2 brothers and mom who was in her late 30's when I was born. But my decisive choices were R&B (it's just music you can feel in your soul) and rock (this was a requirement in my house.I think I was the only 5 year old that could sing Desperado from the Eagles and At Last from Etta James.

i'm partial to an 80s group called "the call" and leonard cohen. i had forgotten this post was here. i shall cry now! since i wrote this, the lead singer/song writer from my favorite band EVER {the call} passed away of a heart attack. it was august 19th, and he was 60. he was working backstage at a concert - he was the sound engineer for his son's band - on a world tour, in belgium. the music world suffered a great loss that day. michael was a poet, a bard, and a gentleman. truly, he was inspirational and beautiful, and i will miss him every day for the rest of my life.

There's a song that is very special to me and I don't share that with very many people. The song is The Promise by Tracy Chapman. If you ever had to be away from someone whom you care for very deeply, then this song is a page from your soul.It has to be heard to believe the beauty of it.

I like many different kinds of music. When I was younger, I listened exclusively to Christian music (my own choice to), but as I got older I found styles not represented there. For example, I love video game, anime and movie soundtracks. The first movie soundtracks I owned were Star Wars, and the first game soundtrack was Final Fantasy VI (released in the US as FF III).
But then, thanks to my older brother, I learned about progressive rock. One of my favorite bands is Dream Theater. They are sooooo creative and incredibly talented! I had the opportunity to see them in concert - with Joe Satriani as well - the week before I got married. I took my younger brother along - it was just the two of us. (Mike doesn't like Dream Theater's singer.) We had a lot of fun.

In the last few years, I've really gotten into a band called Apocalyptica. They are a cello/drum band from Finland that is incredibly talented. A lot of their older stuff is instrumental but recently they have had some guest musicians.

I love K.D Lang.her voice is so powerful. My favorite is the remake of Cryin' that she did with Roy Orbison. Her voice just blew me away. And Plum was a sweet surprise.I had to find a song and a poem for my brothers' funeral last October. He died from a hemmorrhagic stroke and intracranial blood vessel burst with a massive blood clot.I had heard Taken from Plum and couldn't have asked for a better song.It is so beautiful and touching that it grabbed me on the first verse.I also adore Sarah Maclachlan.I'm convinced that her voice is what it sounds like in heaven.
