I'm reading this book called "Graceling". I haven't gotten that far so I don't know how I'll like it yet.

Hmm. The title sounds interesting.
I have been reading Alice's Adventures In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.

Well, I've been reading the Trinity Blood novels, of course! After that, I plan on reading The Hobbit. I need to get on with those TB novels, but I get really, really bad eye strain from reading the small print...

I've moved onto "The Necromancer". It's the 4th instalment in the series "Secrets of the Immortal, Nicholas Flamal." It's so awesome!

I'm finally reading a book about Jack The Ripper.
I only bought it a few years ago...I kind of have an unhealthy obsession with JTR. I don't know why...

Heh, I saw the "L change the world" movie, and then my mom bought me the book for my birthday, but I still haven't read it yet.
I am right now going between reading "The Hunger Games" and my brother's book "Key to the Stars".

Except I hate the whole "present tense" way of writing. I prefer to read about things the way I'd speak - telling of what has already happened, not AS it's happening. Something about that annoys me...

Except I hate the whole "present tense" way of writing. I prefer to read about things the way I'd speak - telling of what has already happened, not AS it's happening. Something about that annoys me... Wow, really? I love present tense! It's so much more fun to write and it kind of makes the whole reading experience more intense, like it's really happening, and right now. I think the author could get away with it because it's taking place in the very distant future. It could even seem wrong to write in past tense when the setting is the future, but that's just some weird logic... It is a rather intense distopian world, isn't it? I mean, all these territories have to send 2 innocent children each between the ages of 12-18 to compete in a yearly contest to the death, where only 1 of them is allowed to survive? Even the ancient Romans had condemned criminals competing in death matches, not innocent children who sometimes had never fought anyone in their lives, or had clubbed feet. If a 12-year-old has to compete, she/he is going to die, end of story. That is so sad, it makes me cry! The premise is fantastic and intriguing. It makes my gut wrench. And, even though the country is just twisted, I already love District 12 in some weird way. I love how Katniss has to struggle so hard just to survive every day of her life. I somehow feel I relate to this... I hope I'm not providing any spoilers! I'm trying to avoid writing any. These really don't spoil anything, for those of you who haven't read the books yet...

No I don't think you told much more than what the dust cover would say. ;D But I'm only 2 chapters in, so it's hard for me to tell why people have gone so crazy over this book at this point... Maybe the whole "present tense" thing is just a pet peeve of mine. Who knows?

Yeah, maybe you'll be able to over look some of the book's faults. I know I don't like some little things as well, but no book is perfect. Collins does too much 'telling' where she should have been 'showing,' if you know what I mean. Some things need not be blatantly said. Let us readers figure some things out for ourselves. Makes reading a pleasure and a joy!
