Eh, I don't read fanfictions. XD I can't read anything if it isn't on printed paper and sealed with a bind. My shelves are all teaming with books. XD

I have a fairly detailed outline of a novel finished, but to actually write it I'll need to research rural France in the 1830's, which I can't find any really good sources for.

I have a fairly detailed outline of a novel finished, but to actually write it I'll need to research rural France in the 1830's, which I can't find any really good sources for. I had to research the eastern Mojave dessert in California during the 1870s for my novel, and the internet is YOUR friend! That's the only way I got anything on that region at that time period. But, it was NOT easy. I also needed info on the Native Americans living there at that time, too, and there were just too, too many tribes, and not enough specifics, etc. I still feel like I need more info on them... Just keep doing the research on the net, and you'll be surprised what you can find out about 1830's rural France. My guess is that it wouldn't be that hard. Heck, I have ancestors who lived in rural France during the 1830's! I might even be able to help you...

Yeah, getting good details seems to be a real problem. I mean, hardly anybody would take the time just to transcribe someone else's collection of diaries from that time/place to put online, right? It's usually just quote snippets supporting a thesis on some specific facet of that society, when all I want is (say) to get filled in on what the average shepherd would do every day, the tools they'd have to help them get things done, what they'd gossip about and with who, things they'd eat and wear and how their living spaces were built and decorated. I don't want my characters to have total values anachronism, but it's not turning out that they'd perfectly fit someone else's paper on how everyone thought and behaved, so I feel like I need to ground them in something else.

Thank you for the glowing compliment, Kyashi~ I don't have aspirations, I just write for fun! And my first story 'Hero's Charge' is pretty crappy imo... I think I've mentioned my distaste for it before. lol I am in love with FFXIII and wanted to write fanfics for it. I didn't like the ending and that's how it came about. I may write for different fandoms one day, but I won't be putting out a long story again I don't think. I've had a chapter out once a weekish like for the last 5 months... it began with 2000-3000 words a week with HC and skyrocketed to 5000-9000 with the sequel. and that's a little too quick for me. Not to mention I'm pretty ruthless when it comes to my self-imposed deadlines. I was thinking of writing something autobiographical next, but we'll see. As for improving as a writer, I don't completely believe that the more you read the better a writer you'll be. Like anything, I think that people are born with talent and others can learn. I love to read amateur works like fanfics and such. (Where ELSE am I going to read about non-canon situations like character X getting it on with character Y? lol) I read whatever seems interesting really and tend towards short stories and the like. As soon as I'm done with Arakawa Under the Bridge I'll be rootin around for y'alls fics!!!

So I have my own comic I've been working on, called "Work In Progress", but now my brother has also made the first of his novels available on Amazon for Kindle and on Smashwords for all other eReaders and PCs. It's a series called "The Fourth Dimension", and book 1 is called "Key to the Stars". It's a fantasy fiction story where the main character is a 14-year-old boy. For nearly a decade, the race of sorcerers known as the Kyrosen lived in seclusion beneath the sands of the Mayahol Desert. After the death of his father during the Vermillion War, Sartan Truce rose to power as the rightful heir to take the reigns of his battered people. Although the planet's natives did their best to drive the Kyrosen to extinction, Truce's technological advancements served to both sustain his people and aid them in their fight for survival. And now his greatest weapon is a fourteen year old boy. AmazonSmashwordsThe cool thing about Smashwords is that you can get a sample of the book for free - 30% of the book, actually. Plus, I believe he's going to to start posting excerpts on his Deviantart, but there's nothing there yet. Just thought I'd tell you about it, even if it's not mine.

Finished my bish of a fanfic last night. Whew! (Over a 150,000 words later...........) Now I can write some Lightning/Snow smut like I've been meaning to.
Now that I'll have some free time I can go and look at everyone's work! YAY!
Sorcerers and fantasy ftw,, Dyzzi!
I'd really love to be able to illustrate my own stories. That would be tops. Once again.. I WISH I COULD DRAW! XD

Meh. I posted a new drabble-ish thing on Fanfiction. Link below for it. Basically, it's just Aeris thinking about some crap and Zack is mentioned. It isn't good but I figured I should do something for that account on FF. I never use it anymore... www.fanfiction.net/s/6347012/1/A_Simple_Thought_Drabble

I really gotta find myself some time to read all your fanfics... XD In the meantime, my brother is running a special on his book "Key to the Stars"on smashwords - if you use coupon code HY37W, you can get it for free, but only today and tomorrow (9/24-9/25). And I don't believe you need an eReader to see these things - I think you can view/read them on your computer. Just thought I'd let you know.
