Yeah, Vic's been around in the industry for a long time now. I think he gets so much attention for being the voice of so many very popular main hero characters from very popular anime. He's also an awesome actor, as well, cute and super funny, so all that combines into his great popularity!
But, I didn't know he had trouble with bothersome fan-girls. I've never met him before, so I just know he's very popular, but had no idea that it went all that far. Poor guy... I hear about how some people say he's a "Diva" and he's not so nice. I don't believe it. I think they're fan girls who met him and he didn't grace them with a marriage proposal right-off-the-bat, so they decided to hate his guts from that point on. Really, really immature and stupid fans, I'm sure...
Troy doesn't seem as popular as Vic and Johnny, but that could change with time. I don't really wish him this kind of agony, though, with pushy, troublesome fan girls who will show up at his house one day unannounced, like what happened to Vic once. SO SCARY!!! No, that would be bad for Troy, well, for anyone, so if no fan has ever gotten that carried away with Troy, then I hope it never happens.
P.S. Vic's voice is nice, but I wouldn't say "sexy." Troy's is, for sure, along with Travis and Chris Sabat. Chris is my hero!! To pull-off such a fabulous Tres Iqus robot-voice is genius. I love the guys with the DEEP voices...*drool*

Vic has actually talked about this kinda stuff before. He adores his fans, very, very much (one of the only reasons he goes to cons really.) And I'm sure there have been a few incidents where something has gone astray, but I'm sure that everything was handled well. lol (or at least I hope. haha!)
There are some people out there that get really hooked on the idea of meeting the person behind the voice, thinking they are some what like the character that they love. I think that's what mostly drives this girls (and some guys) to crazy-ness sometimes. The characters they voice; maybe not the person behind the voice. But since they associate the character with the voice actor, the voice actor becomes the real-life character they love annnnddd all hell breaks loose. lol!
So really, it's not Vic's fault, or the fan's fault... it's the writers fault for writing their character's so good!! lol!
It's just how it goes. Like Kyashi said, he's also been around for a long time, and he also tends to do a lot of main characters that people tend to get attached to really fast (Dark, Tamaki, Edward, Spirit, etc.). So, no wonder Vic gets tackled every five minutes, yes? lol
As for Troy - gosh, I'm torn between wanting him to get REALLLLY popular because he deserves it - and not wanting him to get popular because I like the size of his fan-base now. It's a lot smaller than a lot of people out there, and that means it gives us Troy Baker fans a better chance to meet him, get to know him before another fan comes along and tackles him (VIC STYLE! lol)
But all the same, I do hope Troy gets a bigger fan best, and I just hope that us 15-20 people that started all this are remembered well in his mind. ^_~
His voice. I would doo sooo much to hear that voice, or I would do anything if that voice told me too. XD you know those Klondike commercials?
"What would you do for a Klondike bar?"
It should be:
"What would you do to hear Troy Baker's voice"
hahaha. XD

It most certainly doesn't hurt that Troy is a pretty cool cat, and handsome to boot, but my heart burns for a certain blond hero. (Sorry, Cloud. Not you. But you're totally on my bishie list...) If I was 10 years younger than I am I can see myself getting carried away, but at this juncture in my life, I try to remind myself that people are just people. Besides, I prefer to fangirl over stuff that's not real.... like BISHIES! ...Except Christina Hendricks. I think I would expire on the floor from blood loss were I ever to be in the same room with that Goddess.

Same here, avy. I'd rather just fan-girl to the fictional bishie characters I love, since IRL men usually leave something to be desired... *hrrmm* I rarely care about any real life men these days because I don't need to, but for some reason, Troy stood out as being very unique and different to me, so I like him, too... I've hardly heard any of the characters he's voiced before, so I don't confuse him with those characters. What am I, 12? I do love Abel Nightroad, but mostly from the novels, and I've only seen the anime twice. Schneizel is okay, a real bishie, but I'm not that into him. I first heard about Troy because he did the voice for Kariya Jin from the Bleach Bount (fail) arc, and I really dislike that lame character. I always thought the VA was brilliant despite the character's deficiencies. I'm only now hearing him as Akatsuki, and I've heard a bit from him as Snow, but Snow bores me a bit (maybe I need to see more of him, though)... No offense to Troy! He's a fabulous VA! REALLY, REALLY AWESOME! I'm just not gushing over most of his characters due to how they were originally conceived by totally different people. Oh, but, Excalibur is awesome!! What little there is of him in SE, he is a truly comic character. Soooo great...

Yes. IRL men leave LOTS to be desired. I have a wonderful husband, but I tell ya, if one of my favourite bishies came to sweep me off my feet and steal me away... I can't say I wouldn't take the opportunity. I'm the same way... there are only a few real life men I love as much as my bishies... actually, I think 'few' might be the wrong word..... maybe.. a couple? Yeah, not many. Yeah, you need to hear more Snow. Although, if you find the stereotypical hero type boring then Snow is not for you. He's the quintessential Final Fantasy hero. I just happen to have a massive hero fetish. That being said..... I love my Snow Villiers, and it's totally awesome that he's voiced by a neat guy... and we're all here because of said guy, so that's just fine!

Seriously?! Are Vic's fangirls THAT bad? Troy doesn't have rabid fangirls, does he? I'm sure there are rabid fangirls in Troy's following as well.. but give him another few years and I'm sure they'll start coming outta the woodwork. That being said... I'm sure I'm not the only fangirl here Troy melts into a little puddle of goo with his voice... so even a mostly calm girl could perhaps turn a bit rabid at a word? so far, troy doesn't get mobbed too badly at cons, but i'm sure it will increase over time and exposure. right now the hardest part of handling him is getting him out of a Q&A session or a signing on time, because everyone wants to chat with him, get a hug & a picture, have him sign - and he loves it all SO much, it's hard to break him away {even when it's time that someone else needs the room, LOL}. he's a rising star, though, for sure. and yes, there are quite a few puddles of goo laying around his cons. just don't slip in one. ;D

Well I'm glad to hear that I won't have to step on too many faces wait in line too long to have a word with the man! I think small cons will probably be where it's at for me... I am not much of a crowd person. Snicker @ 'handling'. Ally, you lucky girl. How the heck did you manage to get your hands on a job like that anyway? It sounds like fun!

same way anyone gets their dream job - i was in the right place at the right time! ;D no, really ... years of volunteering at conventions and working with production people + a little bit of luck as one of my best friends went to work for FUNimation as a voice actor, and now a producer. i also have a lot of experience working with actors, as i have a degree in stage acting, and put in a few years helping stage manage and handle bands for small music festivals, which led me into doing handling at a convention ... and it all went pretty fast from there. the job is fun, to be sure - but it's also a LOT of hard work. that and it doesn't really "pay" per se - just perks. maybe eventually i'll work it into a paying gig that will help keep my pantry a little less sparse.

yeah, I can totally understand the hard work there - that's all I've heard, sometimes it's more hard work than fun. lol
Though, I think it would be all worth the amazing people you get to work with. =]

I totally get that! I just have no idea of what I wanna do when I grow up. XD
Right now I'm a kept woman, and I can't really do anything at all without rights. But who am I to argue atm?
Grats again Neko on your good news and I remain jealous of the fun you have Ally! I hope our paths will cross somewhere!
Actually, I hope to meet all of you guys at some point!!

I laughed at this. So hard.
I've met Vic.... 5, maybe 6 times now. I had a nice large break between 2007 and 2010 because I was in other states. But when I met him at Ikki4. I wanted to punch babies.
It wasn't anything he said, or did, or maybe I was distressed. But I felt there was something off. I'm a cancer, and they say we can feel other peoples emotions, or sense them, and I believe it. I mean, he could just be having a rough time, like probably the rest of the world, but there was just something in the air around him, that made me wrinkle up my nose.
Maybe next con I see him at will be better. I dunno. But I'm stepping out of the Rangers. The Fanbase is just too much. And, quite honestly, filled with pre-teen girls that love a certain vampire and werewolf. Bleh. I was standing in line during one of his autograph sessions at Ikki4 and I was listening to the chatter behind me... ugh. I was like, really? REALLY? Ugh.
And then I proceeded to get my should out for a fan-club that I swore I would and then moved on. 'Cause I had a Chris Ayres dinner to get to. XD

It's weird that I hear people saying such polar opposite things about Vic. "He's the sweetest guy!" "He's such a diva!" What does this mean? Oh, well, I guess all I can do is go by videos, etc., since I'll probably never find out for myself. He seems very funny and nice, anyway. What else can I think...? But, I really didn't know his fanbase were so awful. Sure, they're teenagers, but that doesn't mean they have to be awful. I was freaked out by hearing about some of them showing up at his house one day, all of a sudden. Totally creepy and WRONG! WTH! You don't do that kind of thing, seriously... P.S. When you say the fangirls "like a certain vampire or werewolf," do you mean the guys from Twilight?

everyone has off-days, and even off-events - sometimes you're not feeling well, or have something personal going on, or even have had a conflict at an event, and it shows. doesn't mean you're a bad guy.
vic might not always be on his a-game, but he really is amazing to his fans, and a fun guest at a convention. he goes all-out for the panels, photos, autographs. he's always willing to give hugs, chat a bit, and even pray with you if you need/want it.
i've known vic longer than any other voice actor besides my BFF clarine. we're not all that close, per se, but we've known one another casually. he sometimes has trouble remembering where exactly he knows me from, but once he does he's always very genuinely nice and happy to see me, with a big hug and some chatter to "catch up."
do some people dislike him on a personal level? sure. do some people clash with his personality? sure. i'm sure that's true of all of us.
but for the most part, where it counts, vic's a good actor, a good guy, and he treats the fans well.
